GIFT CARD TAMPER ALERT – Avoid buying a tampered gift card
Gift Card tampering is a major fraud scheme.  Fraudsters remove a card from a sales rack.  They tamper with the packaging, steal one or more card number(s), and return the card to the rack.  They then wait until a purchaser buys the card. When it is activated upon sale, they deploy the stolen card numbers to use the card and drain its value resulting in the purchaser holding a valueless card.  Consumers can fight back.  Be vigilant when buying gift cards.  Examine the card and packaging.  DO NOT SELL OR PURCHASE IF PACKAGING HAS BEEN BROKEN OR INDICATES TAMPERING.  Education and awareness are the keys.
