Tips On Card Use (FAQs)

Your Tropical Smoothie Cafe® Gift Card should provide an enjoyable shopping experience at participating Tropical Smoothie Cafe® franchise locations.  Use of your Gift Gard will be facilitated by the following Tips On Card Use which are designed to address Frequently Asked Questions. Click on the title to reveal the tip.

Remember that your Gift Card is issued by the Card Issuer. For information about the Card Issuer, see Card Issuer.

Remember that your Gift Card is subject to terms and conditions that govern its use (the "Card Terms"). For the complete set of terms and conditions, see Full Gift Card Terms.

Remember that your Card Agreement has a Change of Terms provision. That means the Card Issuer reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time in its discretion for the limited purposes (a) of making modifications, if any, regarding redemption limitations, (b) to define modifications in limitations of use, (c) to describe courses of action in the event the Gift Card program is terminated, (d) to clarify existing terms and conditions, (e) to address changes in information such as links, or (f) to implement other changes made in good faith provided that such other changes do not include (i) the addition of an expiration date, (ii) the application of new fees regarding the use or non-use of the Gift Cards, (iii) a change to the Arbitration Agreement, or (iv) a change to this Change in Terms clause. These changes will be published at the Cardholder Notices page of this website. Notice of changes will be provided at the Cardholder Notices tab of that website. The most current version of these Terms will be available on that website and will supersede all previous versions of these Terms, except as otherwise specified.

Remember that the Card Issuer may, from time to time, publish notices to Cardholders, (or otherwise provide information to Cardholders) about your Gift Card or its use. Such notices and information will be published at the Cardholder Notices page of this website.

You have the ability to download the terms and conditions that govern your Gift Card. This button is located at the bottom of the Full Gift Card Terms page. When you click on that button you have the ability to save the Terms as a PDF or print them.

Remember that your Gift Card is a limited-value and limited-use stored value card. It is not a credit card, a debit card, an asset account, a deposit account, a bank issued card, a bank account, or a card linked to a bank account. The funds used to purchase the Gift Card will not be segregated or kept in a fund pending use of the Gift Card.

Remember that the Gift Cards are available for purchase by consumers in two forms. The first form is a standard physical gift card that has a unique number. The second form is a digital code with the card being a virtual card (also known as an E-card).

Remember that you must safeguard your Gift Card. Your Gift Card will not be replaced or replenished if it is lost, stolen or damaged. In that regard, you should safeguard the Gift Card in the same manner that you do cash.

Remember that you must safeguard and keep secure your Gift Card and protect others from gaining access to the Gift Card or the numbers on the Gift Card. Your Gift Card will not be replaced or replenished if the Gift Card or its unique numbers are used without authorization. In that regard, you should safeguard the card in the same manner that you do cash.

Remember that, as specified in the Card Terms, the Card Issuer and Tropical Smoothie Cafe® reserve the right to assert all available remedies in the event of suspected abuse or fraud. Such remedies include, without limitation, the blocking or freezing by the Card Issuer of a Gift Card from use or refusal by the Card Issuer to honor a Gift Card. For specifics regarding the rights of the Card Issuer or Tropical Smoothie Cafe® in the event of suspected abuse or fraud, see the Card Terms at the Full Terms and Conditions.

Gift cards are available to be purchased in participating Tropical Smoothie Cafe® franchise locations, in the Tropical Smoothie Cafe® Mobile Application (the “Cafe App”), and online.

Remember that your Gift Card is a variable denomination card. That means it is available for purchase by consumers at the minimum amount of $10 up to maximum amount of $150. No single individual may purchase Gift Cards with a total value of $10,000 in any given day.

Remember that the Gift Cards are issued in and purchasable only for United States Dollars (USD$).

Remember that, once a gift card is purchased, it will not be refundable, returnable, or redeemable for cash, except as required by state law. With respect to redemptions required by state law, see the tip below on Cash Redemptions.

Your Gift Card is reloadable unless and until specified by the Card Issuer on the Cardholder Notices page of this website. Unless specified otherwise at purchase, a Gift Card may be reloaded at the minimum amount of $10 up to maximum amount of $50. Unless specified otherwise at the time of reload, a reload shall not cause the Gift Card to have an aggregate value in a given 24-hour period in excess of $2,000. Your Gift Card will be deactivated and thus will not be reloadable if there is no activity for 365 days after a zero balance.

If you have a Tropical Smoothie Cafe® Mobile Application (the “Cafe App”), you can buy and redeem Gift Cards on the Cafe App. You may also add your Gift Card funds into your Cafe App. For instructions and applicable terms of service, visit Cafe App. If you elect to place your Gift Card into your Cafe App, then you must place the full balance of the Gift Card into your Cafe App. Your Cafe App may be used to purchase goods and services at Tropical Smoothie Cafe® franchise locations and tropicalsmoothiecafe.com.

Your Gift Card is usable up to its balance only to purchase goods and services at participating Tropical Smoothie Cafe franchise locations, online at tropicalsmoothiecafe.com or in the Cafe App. The Gift Card cannot be redeemed for cash or currency, except as required by law. See also the Limitations on Use specified below. Your Gift Card is redeemable only up to the available balance of the Gift Card. If you want to use your Gift Card to make purchases in excess of the balance, then you must combine the use of the Gift Card with another acceptable form of payment, a process known as a split tender. Split tenders require full use of the Gift Card. See the tips on use below regarding Participating Redeeming Merchants or Limitations on Use and Eligible Purchases.

Remember that your Gift Card is usable or redeemable to purchase goods and/or services only at participating Tropical Smoothie Cafe® franchise locations, in the Tropical Smoothie Cafe® Mobile Application (the “Cafe App”), and online here. Your Gift Card is not redeemable at any other merchant. For information on Tropical Smoothie Cafe® and its locations, visit Tropical Smoothie Cafe® Locations.

Remember that your Gift Card is limited to use at participating Tropical Smoothie Cafe® franchise locations. You cannot use the Gift Card to purchase other Gift Cards, including other Tropical Smoothie Cafe® Gift Cards. The Gift Card is not redeemable for cash unless required by law; see the tip on Cash Redemptions.

Remember that your Gift Card is redeemable only to purchase goods and/or services. Therefore, unless otherwise required by law, your Gift Card is not redeemable for cash even if your Gift Card has a small remaining balance. A limited number of U.S. States and Territories have enacted statutes that require Gift Cards to be redeemable for cash in certain limited circumstances that are set forth in the statutes. For inquiries or additional information, see Contact Us.

Remember that your Gift Card is usable to make "card not present" purchases. That means you may use the card to make purchases online or in the Cafe App.

You should keep track of the Gift Card balance. For information on how to make balance inquiries, see Balance Inquiry.

Remember that the initial available balance on your Gift Card will be an amount set at the time of activation and/or purchase. Thereafter, the available balance will be reduced by each authorized use of the Gift Card or as otherwise provided in the terms and conditions except as prohibited by law.

Remember that if you use your Gift Card balance to make a purchase for less than the available balance of the Gift Card, the remaining balance will not be paid in cash to you, unless a cash payment is otherwise required by law. See the Tip on Cash Redemptions above.

Remember that if you use your Gift Card to make a purchase that exceeds the available balance of the Gift Card, you will be responsible for the balance due, or the transaction may be declined. If you want to use your Gift Card to make purchases in excess of the balance, then you must combine the use of the Gift Card with another acceptable form of payment, a process known as a split tender. Split tenders require full use of the Gift Card.

Remember that your Gift Card may be partially redeemed by you. You are not required to fully use the Gift Card when using the card to buy goods or services, unless you are proceeding with a split tender transaction.

Remember that your Gift Card is not subject to fees that will be charged or assessed against the balance of the Gift Card.

Remember that your Gift Card is not subject to an expiration date under which you lose the right to use the Gift Card to buy goods or services. This is different than a Valid Thru Date. With a Valid Thru Date the funds do not expire, but the card or code where your money is stored will cease to operate. You will therefore need to obtain a new card or code at no cost.

Remember that your Gift Card is subject to a valid thru date under which if there is no activity for 365 days after a zero balance you will lose the ability to use your physical card subject to the right to get a new physical card. After the valid thru date, the Gift Card will be declined at the register or other point of use. However, the underlying card obligation does not expire, and you can call customer service to learn how to obtain a free replacement card.

Remember that if you have not used your Gift Card within a time period set by state law, the unused Gift Card balance may or may not be required to escheat under various state unclaimed property statutes. These time periods set by state law usually are two-year, three-year or five-year periods for Gift Cards. If the remaining balance of your Gift Card becomes unclaimed property subject to a state's unclaimed property law, then the Card Issuer may be required to escheat the Gift Card to the state in an amount and at the time required by the state law. At that time, you may lose the ability to use your Gift Card. If this occurs, you may inquire about the status of your Gift Card by contacting us. See Contact Us. For general information about escheat and unclaimed property, visit unclaimed.org.

Remember that if you use your Gift Card to purchase goods or services, the returns or exchanges of such purchased merchandise, if any, shall be subject to and limited to the policies set by the selling merchant for returns and exchanges of its sold merchandise. Refunds regarding merchandise purchased with your Gift Card, if any, will not be placed back on your Gift Card.

Remember that the Personally Identifiable Information, if any, collected or received regarding your Gift Card and your Gift Card Program will be subject to a privacy policy. See the CIMI Privacy Policy and Notice.
